The balmy days of summer may be over, as heather cloaks Catbells in purple and the trees begin their autumn turn. But there is sun and fun to be had on Derwent Water, with visitors taking in the fresh air and boarding the launches for a trip on the lake. Geese circle overhead, a squirrel scampers in the branches, and children feed the ducks before the first frosts of winter arrive.
